Migration Consultant, Modern Platforms Advisory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support the creation of a thorough migration strategy based on both business and technical requirements.

• Evaluate the existing IT landscape and establish the scope for migration.

• Assist in selecting the suitable hosting model (public, private, hybrid, or multi-cloud) and cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Formulate cost, security, and compliance requirements for cloud adoption.

• Create detailed migration and/or transformation plans.

• Integrate data from various sources, identify gaps, and compile information to establish complete master inventories.

• Develop migration strategies, including rehosting (lift-and-shift), re-platforming, re-architecting, and replacing legacy systems.

• Identify dependencies and risks related to migrations (cloud, on-prem, hybrid, etc.).

• Provide essential services (compute, storage, networking, security) to enhance performance.

• Lead the migration process to reduce downtime and business interruptions.

• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, security, and networking teams to deliver configuration requirements.

• Supervise data migration, application refactoring, and integration with cloud-native services.

• Occasionally provide post-implementation support and troubleshooting for clients.

• Offer optimization recommendations to enhance post-migration cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

• Work alongside business leaders, developers, and IT teams to ensure alignment of cloud migration objectives.

• Assist in developing training programs for client technology teams regarding migration processes and best practices.

• Communicate migration progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders.

• Create professional documentation for client review.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, including military experience.

• Over 3 years of experience in the IT industry.

• At least 1 year of experience in migration.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

• Solid understanding of IaaS and PaaS cloud services.

• Knowledge of the fundamental infrastructure components and their basic principles – compute, storage, networking.

• Good grasp of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, MS Hyper-V).

• Familiarity with cloud or on-premise migration tools and methodologies.

• Excellent project management and client communication skills.

• A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-changing field.

• Highly self-motivated, proactive, and a self-starter.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

• Competence in properly diagramming and documenting a working environment.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
