Middle School History Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver designated History course materials within an online setting

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Tailor learning and differentiate instruction according to student proficiency

• Oversee the learning process and track student progress via Stride K12’s learning management system

• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and progress

• Prepare students for significant standardized assessments

• Build positive relationships with families and communicate effectively with students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues

• Enhance course materials using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools

• Travel as necessary, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student assessments, and school events

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside in Michigan

• Michigan Teaching Certification is required

• History certificate is mandatory

• Bachelor’s degree is necessary

• Active state teaching license required

• Ability to pass the necessary background check

• Capability to work independently, typically over 40 hours per week

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours

• Flexibility to adhere to the school-defined schedule, generally 9–5 or 8–4

• Experience working with the targeted age group is preferred

• Experience in supporting both adults and children with technology is preferred

• Teaching experience in online/virtual or brick-and-mortar settings is preferred

• Familiarity with online learning platforms is preferred

• Ability to interpret and produce numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
