Mid-level Back-end Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Spearhead backend projects from initial design through to delivery, managing requirement breakdown, implementation, testing, and deployment to production.

• Advance the platform architecture (whether monolithic or microservices) with a practical mindset, balancing immediate decisions with long-term viability.

• Establish and maintain code quality standards, which include testing protocols, thorough code reviews, uniform error handling, and best development practices.

• Oversee intricate integrations, ensuring application robustness through strategies such as timeouts, retries, idempotency, and fallback mechanisms.

• Consistently uphold the stability and reliability of production systems by conducting diagnostics, mitigating incidents, and engaging in postmortem analyses.

• Guide mid-level developers, fostering their technical development through pair programming, reviewing pull requests, and providing continual support.

• Aid in the advancement of platform observability, underpinning technical decisions with data and system health metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in backend development utilizing Node.js and TypeScript, with hands-on experience in Nest.js and/or Express in live environments.

• Demonstrated capability in defining and refining system architecture, understanding trade-offs like service separation, API versioning, and scalability.

• Solid knowledge of databases, including modeling, indexing, and performance optimization in MongoDB and/or PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with observability and incident management, utilizing logs, metrics, tracing, and monitoring solutions.

• Strong communication abilities and the aptitude to mentor fellow developers, disseminating knowledge and guiding technical choices.

• Well-organized, accountable, and self-sufficient, effective in high-complexity, high-impact settings.
