Mid-level Archaeology Technician – On-call

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork under the guidance of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

• Carry out various tasks to support project personnel.

• Collect and maintain designated records of scientific data for supervisors.

• Perform environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and inspections at client locations as required.

• Assist with calculations as needed.

• Set up and operate necessary equipment.

• Evaluate equipment and installations to ensure compliance with specifications.

• Keep accurate project documentation.

• Gather and input data efficiently.

• Implement technical principles and theories under supervision.

• Travel overnight for fieldwork sessions, mainly in Oregon and Washington.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience and/or education, specifically in archaeological fieldwork in the Pacific Northwest region.

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• Willingness to travel for projects, including overnight fieldwork sessions.

• US Citizenship is required.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related discipline.

• Preferred: Over 5 years of experience in archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.

• Preferred: Completion of an archaeological field school.

• Familiarity with geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS.

• Proficient in computer use, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Candidates located in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA are preferred.
