This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of member support for The Dispatch and SCOTUSblog.
• Oversee the members@thedispatch.com inbox and phone line as the initial point of contact.
• Address issues related to accounts, logins, passwords, billing, payments, gift memberships, plan changes, and refunds.
• Troubleshoot issues related to newsletter delivery and the setup of private podcast feeds.
• Manage discount and sponsorship programs, including verification and code distribution.
• Handle cancellation conversations, offer retention options, and document reasons for cancellations.
• Identify patterns of at-risk members and bring them to attention.
• Address inquiries regarding the merchandise store, including exchanges, returns, and fulfillment coordination.
• Moderate comment sections and manage logistics for member-only programming.
• Forward corrections, editorial feedback, and pitches to the respective teams.
• Generate recurring reports on friction points based on member support data.
• Report and track product bugs until resolution.
• Enhance FAQs, help documentation, response templates, and the support playbook.
• Complete a structured transition with the existing support team during the first month.
• One to three years of experience in customer support, member services, subscriber operations, or a similar role.
• Excellent writing skills, particularly in crafting clear and friendly customer emails.
• A strong technical curiosity and the capability to troubleshoot issues like ad blockers or VPNs.
• Familiarity with subscription and billing tools; quick learning of new systems is essential.
• Patience and resilience when dealing with frustrated members.
• Sound judgment regarding refunds, retention strategies, escalations, and resolutions.
• Ability to manage multiple open support threads without losing track.
• Preferred but not mandatory: experience with subscription or membership products.
• Preferred but not mandatory: knowledge of podcast distribution, email deliverability, e-commerce fulfillment, or paywall mechanics.
• Preferred but not mandatory: experience in community or forum moderation.
• Preferred but not mandatory: interest in politics, policy, the Supreme Court, and law.
