This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +11 more states.
• Act as the main scientific liaison in the field and primary contact for Medical Affairs, engaging appropriately with national and regional thought leaders and healthcare professionals in both academic and community environments.
• Identify, establish, and nurture scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within the designated territory to facilitate scientific exchange, clinical strategy, and educational initiatives.
• Share up-to-date scientific, clinical, and therapeutic information with external stakeholders in a precise, equitable, and balanced manner, fostering informed discussions on disease states, clinical data, compounds, and treatment landscapes.
• Gather, interpret, and communicate actionable field insights, including competitive intelligence, clinical trends, treatment patterns, and investigator perspectives, to internal stakeholders to guide strategy and decision-making.
• Provide scientific support for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials, including site identification, feasibility assessments, initiation, patient accrual discussions, and ongoing communication with investigators and research staff.
• Assist in education related to adverse event management when appropriate. Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information related to supported products and disease state areas.
• Represent the company at scientific congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings, providing session summaries, gathering insights, and delivering recommendations to internal teams.
• Aid in the planning, execution, and facilitation of advisory boards, consultant meetings, and other scientific engagements, ensuring productive scientific dialogue and alignment with Medical Affairs objectives.
• Conduct high-quality scientific presentations and educational sessions, both one-on-one and in group settings, for healthcare providers in academic and community contexts.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including colleagues in Clinical Development, Operations, Commercial (within guidelines), and strategic alliance partners, serving as a scientific resource across the organization.
• Maintain extensive therapeutic, clinical, and product knowledge, including disease states, emerging data, competitive products, and relevant scientific literature, to enable credible and collegial scientific exchange.
• Support internal scientific training and assist in the creation of field-based resources, training materials, and special projects that enhance Medical Affairs capabilities.
• Manage the assigned territory with a high degree of organization, communication, judgment, and professionalism, contributing to the success of the broader MSL team and Medical Affairs organization.
• Adhere to all Medical Affairs SOPs, regulatory, legal, and compliance guidelines while carrying out field activities and scientific interactions.
• Exhibit adaptability, focus, and composure in uncertain or fast-paced environments while working with minimal direction.
• Travel: Up to 70% travel is necessary to attend medical conferences, engage with KOLs, and support field-based activities within the US.
• An advanced terminal degree (PharmD, MD, DO, DNP) or another advanced medical degree (NP, PA, RN, etc.) is mandatory.
• Additional certifications, such as FACS, BCIDP, AGACNP-BC, and in Surgical Critical Care, Trauma Surgery, Infection Prevention, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hospital Medicine, or Wound Care, are highly desirable.
• 2-3 years of relevant work experience (clinical, fellowship, or research experience) and/or related pharmaceutical industry experience is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge or experience in Surgery (Abdominal, Trauma, or Colorectal), Critical Care, Wound Care, Infectious Disease, or Hospital-based care.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a passion for excellence.
• Proven ability to deliver effective and influential oral presentations.
• Self-motivated with strategic thinking and strong geographical management skills.
• Extensive scientific expertise - stays updated on data, treatment trends, and new information in the profession, with an ability to articulate therapeutic knowledge and translate expert feedback into appropriate insights.
• Skilled at cultivating relationships and building networks.
• Capacity to work efficiently both independently and under time constraints.
• Excellent organizational skills and decision-making abilities; adept at planning, prioritizing, and executing multiple responsibilities and projects.
• Understanding of relevant healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, regulatory and payer environment, public health, and industry trends.
• Proficient in digital tools.
• Candidates must reside within the territory or be within a 30-minute commute from the nearest territory border, focusing on both community and academic sites.
