This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Act as the senior physician advisor for Training Services at the American Red Cross.
• Deliver physician-level clinical governance, external credibility, and regulatory guidance across various domains including hospital, EMS, workplace, and aquatic environments.
• Collaborate with the Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer, and senior leadership on clinical standards, protocols, emerging scientific advancements, and overall organizational strategy.
• Ensure that clinical content and programs are in line with the latest ILCOR science, recommendations from the Scientific Advisory Council, and national best practices.
• Oversee peer review and credentialing for clinical content, instructional design, and program materials.
• Aid in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, accreditation, certification, and continuing education initiatives.
• Evaluate high-acuity content such as BLS, ALS, PALS, NALS, and prehospital education.
• Act as the main physician liaison to the Scientific Advisory Council and assist its sub-councils.
• Convert guidance from the Scientific Advisory Council into actionable program updates.
• Provide clinical validation and establish credibility within hospital, EMS, and prehospital settings.
• Facilitate engagement with hospitals, health systems, EMS agencies, and regulatory bodies during contracts, program assessments, and partnerships.
• Represent the organization in relevant clinical, scientific, and regulatory discussions.
• Grant signature authority on clinical documentation as mandated by state law and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with Clinical Directors and the Senior Director of Science and Education on the enterprise clinical strategy.
• Offer insights on new product development, market expansion, and program improvement.
• MD, DO, or PhD in Biomedical Science or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• A current, active, and unrestricted U.S. medical license is required.
• At least 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
• Strong understanding of evidence-based medicine, clinical governance, and healthcare regulatory frameworks.
• Capability to translate clinical science into operational programs and educational materials.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaborative abilities with multidisciplinary clinical and operational teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant enterprise software systems.
• Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
• Active or previous experience as an EMS Medical Director is preferred.
• Experience in resuscitation science, ILCOR-aligned guideline development, or AHA/ARC program leadership is strongly preferred.
• Fellowship training in EMS, Critical Care, or Resuscitation is preferred.
• Board Certification in EMS medicine is preferred.
