This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Leverage the available encoder, grouper software, and various coding resources to identify the correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes, including specialty-specific codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes.
• Sustain a comprehensive understanding and apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents, and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD) directives, as well as Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs) and Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, utilizing knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines to choose appropriate codes and modifiers.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education is required, or
• In the absence of a medical coding education, an active coding certification is required.
• An Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of progressive coding experience is required (For HCC-specific roles, this experience must be related to HCC).
• A minimum of 2 years of progressive coding experience across multiple specialties, with a focus on HCC Risk Adjustment Coding, is preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) is required upon hire, or
• Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) is required upon hire, or
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required upon hire, or
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is required upon hire.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred.
