This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Precisely assign ICD-10 CM, E/M, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and units according to documentation.
• Comply with systems and standards necessary for multi-specialty medical coding encounters, encompassing Outpatient, Emergency Room, Surgery, Inpatient facilities, Inpatient Professional Rounds, and others.
• Process encounters within the required SLA, escalating any identified deficiencies as needed.
• Review and address each audit within the designated timeframe, making corrections promptly following final adjudication.
• Complete training on all government systems, including all annual and short-notice training.
• Achieve or exceed weekly Productivity and Quality goals.
• Collaborate and coordinate with team members while adhering to the guidance provided by the Site Manager/Project Manager.
• High School Diploma or a higher-level degree.
• Active coding certification credentials from AHIMA or AAPC, such as CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT, with initial and annual proof of active certification required.
• Must hold ICD-10 certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in DoD medical coding, re-coding, abstraction, analysis, and assembly of medical record data.
• Proven ability to maintain a minimum accuracy rating of 97%.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance; candidates must not have been unfavorably removed from a government position.
• Up-to-date on necessary training and certification requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and others.
• Capability to work in a private and secure environment while safeguarding PHI/PII and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
• Familiarity with DoD Systems, including MHS Genesis, EM360, or JLV (preferred).
• Experience across multiple specialties such as Behavioral Health, Cardiology, ER, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, OB/Gyn Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Outpatient, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Sleep Medicine, Transplant Surgery, or Vascular Surgery (preferred).
