This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Leverage existing encoder, grouper software, and additional coding resources to identify the correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes, including specialty-specific codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes.
• Maintain knowledge of and apply understanding of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD) guidelines, Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), and Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, utilizing knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and institutional protocols to select suitable codes and modifiers.
• High School Diploma or equivalent along with medical coding education is required.
• Alternatively, an active coding certification is required in lieu of medical coding education.
• An Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of progressive coding experience is required.
• Preferably, 2 years of progressive coding experience in various specialties, including HCC Risk Adjustment Coding.
• Upon hire, a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification is required or
• Upon hire, a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification is required.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.
