This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Accountable for the design, implementation, and management of educational programs focused on coding for medical coders and associated personnel.
• Ensure coding professionals possess the necessary knowledge and skills to accurately assign medical codes, comply with coding guidelines, and support the revenue cycle management process.
• Create, develop, and refresh the coding education curriculum in alignment with current coding standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and webinars for coders and coding personnel, addressing topics such as CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding, compliance, and documentation enhancement.
• Develop interactive e-learning modules and online courses for remote education, utilizing multimedia tools and e-learning platforms.
• Provide practical guidance to coders, assessing coding accuracy and adherence to coding standards.
• Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement specialists to instruct coders on the significance of precise and detailed medical documentation for coding purposes.
• Perform coding audits and offer comprehensive feedback to coders on improvement areas, assisting them in enhancing coding accuracy and expertise.
• Provide continuous education and learning opportunities for coding personnel, keeping them updated on coding innovations and emerging trends in healthcare.
• Instruct coders on compliance regulations, ethical standards, and fraud and abuse prevention to uphold organizational integrity.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management is required; a bachelor's degree in a related field of study is preferred.
• Certifications such as CCS, CPMA, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CHC, and CPB are required.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of coding experience is required.
• Teaching experience of 1-2 years is preferred.
• Strong instructional abilities, including engaging learners, clearly presenting complex concepts, and adapting teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles.
• Thorough knowledge of coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and industry standards.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for effectively delivering training content and engaging with a diverse learner population.
• Strong analytical skills to assess coding accuracy, identify training requirements, and evaluate training effectiveness.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with coding staff, trainers, managers, and other stakeholders.
