This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Implement the appropriate coding classification standards and guidelines to ensure accurate coding of medical record documentation.
• Conduct quality assessments of records, including the verification of both electronic and handwritten medical record documentation.
• Evaluate the quality of completed work by coders to confirm compliance with established standards.
• Provide education to coders and other staff members regarding the appropriate coding guidelines.
• Responsible for investigating errors or missing documentation in medical records to facilitate accurate coding processes.
• Abstract and assign the correct ICD-10, HCPCS/CPT codes, including Level I & Level II modifiers as necessary for all diagnoses and procedures conducted in outpatient and inpatient environments.
• Assist in creating and maintaining processes and procedures for each assigned client related to system usage, billing/coding rules, and client-specific guidelines.
• Manage time efficiently to adhere to all required deadlines and timeframes for both client and departmental needs.
• Collaborate regularly with the Department Manager and other staff in a team-oriented environment.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations, standards, and laws.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical abstract coding/auditing Pro-Fee is required, with at least 3 years in coding audit or quality review roles.
• Certifications: Auditing Certification through AAPC (CPMA) is mandatory.
