This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review medical documentation to verify that clinical indicators comply with coding guidelines.
• Conduct CPT/HCPCS code evaluations for professional Evaluation and Management services, which include Inpatient, Office, ER, Telehealth, Home Health, Behavioral Health, and minor procedures.
• Ensure accurate assignments of CPT coding.
• Analyze, input, and manipulate databases effectively.
• Address or clarify internal inquiries regarding medical information.
• Adhere to productivity standards.
• Uphold quality metrics.
• Utilize encoders and a variety of coding resources.
• Stay informed about ICD-10 and CPT coding principles, government regulations, and protocols.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and physician information.
• Operate independently, making informed decisions about work methods and appropriate actions.
• Work typical business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• CPC, CCS, COC, RHIA, or RHIT certification from AAPC or AHIMA is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of post-certification experience auditing Professional Evaluation & Management (E&M) Services.
• Experience in auditing Inpatient, Office, ER, Telehealth, Home Health, Behavioral Health, and/or minor procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and identify suitable courses of action.
• Minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps is required.
• A wireless, wired cable, or DSL internet connection is recommended; satellite, cellular, and microwave connections require leadership approval.
• A dedicated workspace that minimizes interruptions to safeguard member PHI/HIPAA information.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• Flexibility to start as early as 6 AM in your time zone post-training, based on business needs.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Preferred: 3 or more years of experience as a certified medical coder.
