This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Conduct diagnosis coding for inpatient, outpatient, and physician office medical records in accordance with Risk Adjustment and Medicare Part C guidelines.
• Execute intake validity checks on received medical records, ensuring accuracy of physician specialty, service dates, physician/practitioner signatures, and Attestation.
• Document process information in systems as per contract and organizational protocols.
• Analyze feedback from Senior Coders to enhance accuracy and quality.
• Input data precisely into encoders, systems, and other necessary software utilizing a personal computer, keyboard, and/or mouse.
• Adhere to established processes and procedures.
• Report any unique record or process issues to the Project Lead, Project Manager, or Project Director.
• Safeguard the security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Achieve or surpass customer/company productivity and accuracy benchmarks with a minimum of 95% IRR.
• Comply with company attendance requirements.
• Maintain appropriate interactions with peers, coworkers, contractors, and customers.
• Foster a positive team environment.
• Carry out other assigned duties and projects.
• At least one (1) year of experience in coding general acute hospital inpatient and outpatient and/or multi-specialty physician office medical records, not including internships.
• Must hold a coding certification from a recognized institution such as AAPC or AHIMA.
• Acceptable certifications include CPC, CCS, RHIA, RHIT.
• CRC certification is advantageous.
• Preferred experience in abstracting and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding.
• Preferred experience in Risk Adjustment Data Validation or CMS-HCC audits.
• Background in conducting medical record coding audits, including complex medical record abstraction.
• Capability to work independently while maintaining a high level of focus.
• Ability to consistently execute tasks with both speed and precision.
• Competence in reading, analyzing, and interpreting physician documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating professionalism.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexibility and ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
