This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Ensure efficient billing and collections for all patient accounts.
• Review all tasks assigned to the individual or workgroup.
• Proactively follow up on all unpaid accounts to guarantee that the A/R benchmark targets are achieved or surpassed.
• Respond to patient inquiries via phone and address questions concerning insurance and patient responsibilities.
• Collaborate with other staff members to successfully reach internal objectives.
• Execute all responsibilities in accordance with established agency policies and protocols.
• Inform the Billing Manager of any collection or workflow challenges.
• Demonstrate respect towards all internal and external customers, acknowledging their diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints, and needs.
• Associate’s degree in business, accounting, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of three years of experience in medical billing and collections.
• At least three years of experience with computerized billing and receivables systems and reports.
• Experience with EPIC is preferred.
• Must be sensitive to patients' financial and clinical needs while safeguarding their confidentiality.
• Familiarity with insurance guidelines and programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/10, HCPCS, and CPT codes.
• Extensive experience in following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframes.
• Significant experience in appealing denied claims with insurance companies.
• Experience in ERA payment posting.
• Ability to multitask and function effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
• A keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail is crucial.
• Extensive experience in researching issues and delivering resolutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• In-depth knowledge of government and non-government payer sources.
• Experience with databases and Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings and evenings.
• Excellent customer service and follow-up skills are essential.
• Ability to read and interpret medical procedures and terminology.
• Proficiency in two or more languages is preferred.
