This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the Discipline Lead for our Bay Area team, offering guidance to a skilled group of engineers.
• Oversee the design of mechanical systems, serving as the Engineer of Record for contract documentation.
• Engage in the creation of project fee proposals that outline the scope, schedule, and budget essential for executing the work.
• Collaborate on design and scheduling with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, technology, and equipment suppliers.
• Ensure accurate project documentation and design data are maintained for permanent project files.
• Assess project staffing needs, troubleshoot issues, and compose reports.
• Facilitate client meetings regarding engineering systems while fostering strong client relationships.
• Identify potential clients, support marketing initiatives to attract new clients, and cultivate future projects with existing clients.
• Ensure the quality and completeness of engineering designs.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a proven equivalent in experience and/or education.
• Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California.
• Preferred: 12+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience serving as the primary engineering contact with multiple clients, either in a project management role or as the engineering lead.
• Preferred: Familiarity with California Building Codes and pertinent industry standards (ASHRAE, LEED, HCAI).
• Preferred: Exceptional skills in project planning, management, organization, and time management.
• Preferred: Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC engineering principles, including load calculations and design from conceptual systems through construction documentation.
• Preferred: Proven experience with advanced HVAC system designs and technically demanding projects under tight schedules.
• Preferred: Experience with Design-Build and other alternative delivery methods is a plus.
• Preferred: Background in plumbing and fire protection system design.
• Preferred: Experience with sustainable design and certifications or high-performance buildings.
