This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Create and enhance crane systems, components, and assemblies utilizing SolidWorks.
• Employ Automated 3D Models and modify them for project drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure designs fulfill customer requirements and align with the Company’s design standards.
• Engage in design reviews and actively contribute to initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
• Guarantee that designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Operate independently while providing support with technical and engineering documentation as necessary.
• Collaborate with design professionals, customers, and suppliers to develop project specifications.
• Assist in the preparation of project technical drawings, calculations, and submittals.
• Conduct 3D design tasks, with the capability to manage moderate to complex design projects.
• Design, model, size, and specify components, while creating detailed drawings and BOMs.
• Aid in project documentation, including submittals, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials, spare parts lists, operation and maintenance manuals, and As-Built drawings.
• Ensure designs are cost-efficient and adhere to American Equipment’s standards.
• Interpret and understand additional customer requirements.
• Carry out field surveys, fabrication shop inspections, and quality checks as required.
• Learn, apply, and implement continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, TOC, 6s, APICS, and 80/20.
• Take responsibility for directing or executing corrective actions when shop issues arise, conducting root cause analyses.
• Adhere to all ISO quality control protocols.
• SolidWorks Professional Certification (CSWP) is mandatory.
• Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE) is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience, ideally in crane design or heavy equipment sectors.
• Familiarity with PDM and part creation processes.
• Strong grasp of mechanical systems, materials, and fabrication techniques.
• Experience with Legacy AutoCAD.
• In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Acquainted with CMAA, ANSI/ASME, and OSHA specifications and requirements.
