Mechanical Designer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver mechanical design and drafting assistance

• Create 3D models utilizing Inventor/SolidWorks and incorporate them into plant layout models

• Generate drawings for mechanical apparatus, piping, and structural steel platework using AutoCAD/Inventor

• Evaluate designs for mechanical equipment, process systems, and mechanical components while following established guidelines and client specifications

• Interpret intricate drawings that integrate civil, structural, and architectural design requirements with piping, process, and electrical disciplines

• Prepare material take-offs and equipment inventories

• Review and conduct quality assessments of project documents before issuing them to ensure conformity with project standards and specifications

• Contribute insights on tendering, contract management, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure project specifications are met

• Compose and assess technical reports, equipment specifications, and construction specifications

• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other essential stakeholders

⛳️ Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field from a recognized university or college

• Over 7 years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Designer in Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects

• Knowledgeable in both greenfield and brownfield projects

• Proficient in mechanical equipment and plant layout design

• Familiarity with mechanical design and analysis software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Navisworks is advantageous

• Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
