This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Instruct engaging, live, synchronous online courses over an 11-week period utilizing student-centered teaching strategies.
• Teach mathematical reasoning and interpretation as essential intellectual skills rather than just procedural accuracy.
• Create an inclusive and encouraging environment that fosters active learning and student engagement.
• Consistently establish real-world connections to help students understand the relevance of their learning.
• Address math anxiety while maintaining high expectations, offering support and encouragement to students.
• Deliver prompt and constructive feedback, responding to student questions within 24 hours.
• Conduct weekly office hours to enhance student comprehension and foster community.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to co-manage the course, including guiding the TA on effective grading and student engagement techniques.
• Assess student progress, keep accurate grade records, and submit grades at mid-quarter and the end of the quarter.
• Work alongside the Curriculum Operations team and Program Director to refine and update course content.
• Participate in co-curricular programming to enhance the overall student experience.
• Stay informed about current trends in mathematics education, online teaching tools, and methods for supporting nontraditional learners.
• A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching mathematics at the college level.
• Proven ability to teach mathematical reasoning and interpretation as transferable intellectual skills beyond mere procedural computation.
• Strong knowledge base in quantitative reasoning, algebra, and introductory statistics.
• Experience in making abstract mathematical concepts tangible and relevant through real-world examples.
• Comfortable teaching students with varying levels of mathematical background and confidence.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways until they are understood.
• Proactive, dependable, and dedicated to providing high-quality online education.
• A genuine passion for equity, access, and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
• Availability to commit 8–10 hours per week per course, with some flexibility for training sessions.
