Manager, Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +36 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and steer the technical roadmap within platform engineering, ensuring that tasks are prioritized and aligned with leadership goals.

• Transform the platform to be AI-native by making significant investments in cutting-edge AI-driven development workflows.

• Manage cloud infrastructure at a production scale. Develop and maintain Terraform scripts across our AWS ecosystem. Take responsibility for the CI/CD template layer utilized by all service teams.

• Oversee IAM at scale - Sustain and expand roles, policies, and permission boundaries across numerous services. Automate enforcement rather than merely reviewing.

• Reduce operational toil through automation and self-service - Create the modules and tools that empower teams to deploy services, manage releases, and troubleshoot issues without requiring intervention from a platform engineer.

• Establish and maintain expectations for delivery, reliability, and team accountability.

• Ensure the health of the platform and delivery results, including responsibility for incident response and on-call management.

• Confirm that platform systems are reliable, scalable, and fulfilling business requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience in platform engineering, encompassing DevOps, infrastructure, development tools, etc., in production settings.

• Proficient in cloud infrastructure (AWS EKS, GCP GKE, or Azure AKS) along with related networking, storage, and IAM components.

• Skilled in at least one systems or backend programming language for operator development and infrastructure tooling.

• Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform) and Git workflows.

• Capable of working independently, making sound technical decisions, and guiding projects from inception to production.

• (bonus) 2+ years of experience in team management.

• Proven track record in platform or infrastructure engineering teams at scale, including responsibility for reliability, scalability, and delivery results.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in Product and Engineering.

• Experience in developing and automating workflows using Claude Code, Codex, etc.
