Manager, Network Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of experienced Network Security Software Engineers — overseeing the hiring process, establishing role expectations, and facilitating the onboarding of engineers into a newly formed function.

• Define and continuously enhance the network security program — creating policies, standards, runbooks, and roadmaps across cloud infrastructure, corporate IT, and third-party connectivity; managing the network segmentation strategy across product and environment boundaries.

• Act as the primary escalation point for architectural decisions and disputes regarding cross-functional scopes — ensuring clear lines of authority as the function integrates into the broader engineering organization.

• Collaborate with the Director of Risk Engineering to share program status, risk posture, and investment requirements; contribute to security strategy presentations for senior leadership.

• Own Lumin's network security architecture strategy and change management framework across cloud, SD-WAN, and ZTNA layers — designing identity-aware, policy-driven controls that secure both human and machine (agent) identities, while establishing standards for fully automated, audit-ready change delivery.

• Serve as the program-level authority for the team’s network security tools and automation initiatives — drafting, reviewing, and refining engineering specifications that enhance AI-assisted coding workflows; validating software outputs for accuracy and security integrity, leveraging hands-on expertise that engineering tools alone cannot provide.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Network Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Over 7 years of progressive experience in network security, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role, within a cloud-native or hybrid environment.

• Proven history of developing or enhancing a network security program — including policy formulation, tool assessment, team development, and management of cross-functional stakeholders.

• Direct experience with network security solutions such as Cloudflare (WAF, Workers, Rulesets, Terraform provider), Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA), Palo Alto, or comparable tier-one platforms.

• Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or other regulated financial services settings (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001) is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD-driven infrastructure provisioning.

• Experience leading teams that utilize agentic coding tools and workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)—or a demonstrated willingness and capability to adopt them as a primary development methodology.
