This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead a team of data-centric engineers dedicated to developing and sustaining a stable, scalable, modern data platform capable of processing petabytes of data.
• Drive strategic long-term planning and establish processes for scalable execution.
• Contribute to Samsara’s data roadmap and act as a thought leader in its transformation towards AI.
• Keep abreast of innovative technological advancements that align with Samsara’s requirements.
• Advocate for and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles as the company expands globally and opens new offices.
• Recruit, nurture, and guide an inclusive, engaged, high-performing international team.
• Enhance the platform to address emerging business needs, support company growth, ensure geographic coverage, and meet privacy and security standards, alongside customer-facing feature advancements.
• Collaborate with customer success teams, product managers, cross-functional teams, scientists, and researchers.
• Engage in customer interviews and utilize metrics to enhance customer outcomes.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Over 2 years of experience in technical people management.
• More than 5 years of relevant experience in data infrastructure.
• Proven experience in building and deploying large-scale data platform systems equipped with continuous-improvement feedback mechanisms.
• Demonstrated experience in leading infrastructure development alongside cross-functional teams, scientists, and researchers.
• Strong understanding of agentic development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cutting-edge data platform technologies.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, SQS, DMS, and Dynamo.
• Proficiency in Spark.
• Knowledge of data lake formats like Delta, Hudi, or Iceberg.
• Experience in Python or Scala.
• Familiarity with container orchestration services like Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Demonstrated track record of innovation and delivering customer value.
• Ability to foster cross-functional consensus and promote cross-team collaboration.
• An MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
• Knowledge of Flink, Trino/Presto, Go, Airflow, and Dagster is a plus.
