Manager, DevOps and Systems Administration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Direct the implementation and support of enterprise systems, database services, and application-hosting environments.

• Ensure that technology services are secure, dependable, resilient, and accessible to fulfill business requirements.

• Oversee operational support, lifecycle management, monitoring, and preparedness for disaster recovery in managed environments.

• Provide leadership and escalation assistance for critical incidents and operational risks.

• Establish and track operational performance metrics, service level objectives, and ongoing service enhancement initiatives.

• Enhance automation capabilities to boost service reliability, operational efficiency, and consistency in deployments.

• Advocate for DevOps practices, continuous improvement, and standardized operational methodologies.

• Facilitate the use of contemporary automation and delivery tools to minimize manual tasks and enhance service quality.

• Support the integration of monitoring, observability, and proactive operational management practices.

• Formulate strategies to enhance enterprise systems, database services, and hosted application environments.

• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure technology services align with the enterprise technology strategy.

• Identify opportunities to modernize services, mitigate operational risks, and enhance business results.

• Assess emerging technologies and propose improvements that align with organizational goals.

• Lead, mentor, and nurture a high-performing team of technical experts.

• Ensure effective workforce planning, capacity management, and technical skill enhancement.

• Cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

• Ensure efficient resource planning, succession planning, and workforce development.

• Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.

• Lead activities related to vulnerability remediation, operational resilience, disaster recovery readiness, and audit support.

• Promote best practices in security, change management, and operational governance.

• Build robust relationships with business leaders, technology teams, and service stakeholders.

• Collaborate across Information Services to provide reliable and effective technology services.

• Manage vendor relationships to ensure performance, support, and value delivery.

• Oversee the implementation of technology initiatives that support operational excellence and service modernization.

• Balance operational commitments with project priorities to meet organizational goals.

• Contribute to technology planning, budgeting, and resource management activities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in Information Technology within a complex enterprise setting.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing teams in systems administration, database administration, DevOps, automation, or related technologies.

• Proven track record in leading operational support, service delivery, automation, and technology modernization projects.

• Experience in managing enterprise operating environments that support critical business applications and services.

• Experience in overseeing vulnerability management, disaster recovery preparedness, operational resilience, and audit compliance activities.

• Background in managing strategic vendors, technology partnerships, and service providers.

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

• Experience in the financial services sector is considered an asset.
