This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Develop and enhance the enterprise data governance strategy.
• Oversee governance architecture for Snowflake and AWS platforms.
• Integrate governance capabilities into Snowflake, AWS, Athena, and emerging technologies.
• Lay the groundwork for governance in AI/ML initiatives.
• Implement governance standards through automation, policies, and controls.
• Manage the execution of SOX compliance and ensure ongoing compliance validation.
• Supervise operations related to the data catalog and metadata governance.
• Track adherence to governance and the overall compliance posture.
• Oversee costs, optimization, attribution, and chargeback frameworks for Snowflake and AWS platforms.
• Assess and present platform ROI, the impact of governance, and cost trends to leadership.
• Build and mentor a high-performing governance team.
• Recruit senior technical talent and outline career progression paths.
• Collaborate on architectural decisions, code reviews, and technical problem resolution.
• Promote the use of governed data products and self-service access models.
• Manage relationships across functions with Data Engineering, Security, Finance, and business stakeholders.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance, data platform operations, or data management.
• At least 3 years in a leadership or technical lead position.
• Proven history of building and scaling governance programs within cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience in leading and mentoring technical teams, including recruitment, performance management, and organizational development.
• Extensive knowledge of Snowflake platform architecture, including RBAC design, row-level security, data masking, network policies, authentication policies, resource optimization, and cost controls.
• Proficient in AWS cloud services, including S3, IAM, governance integrations, and multi-engine data architectures (Iceberg, Athena, Spark).
• Experience with enterprise compliance (SOX, SOC 2, or equivalent).
• Expertise in access controls, audit evidence, and automation of continuous compliance.
• Proficient in data cataloging and metadata management (Alation, Collibra, or similar).
• Knowledge of contemporary data platforms like Databricks and governance capabilities, including cataloging, lineage, and access control.
• Preferred: experience with Snowflake Cortex, Agents, Snowpark ML, AI data pipeline governance, cost attribution, chargeback models, ROI measurement, Terraform or equivalent, and enterprise SaaS environments.
