This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, nurturing a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable data pipelines and models that meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices.
• Manage the development, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-grade ELT processes, data marts, and business intelligence assets.
• Take ownership of and enhance data quality frameworks, ensuring proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of data issues.
• Advocate for the implementation of automation and contemporary data engineering practices, promoting efficiencies in pipeline management and data delivery.
• Assist your team in developing domain expertise in healthcare operations, ensuring that data solutions are compliant with regulatory and security standards.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of the data engineering function, including resource allocation, technology selection, and process enhancement initiatives.
• Promote and uphold software development best practices, including code reviews, source control, CI/CD, and testing.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required in computer science, engineering, healthcare, analytics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience in data engineering or software development roles, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management position.
• At least 2 years of experience with medical claims in healthcare and/or managed care.
• Strong proficiency in building scalable ELT/ETL pipelines utilizing modern data platforms and cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Advanced skills in SQL and scripting/programming languages such as Python or Spark.
• A solid understanding of database structures, data modeling (normalized, star schema, snowflake), and data warehousing concepts.
• Preferred experience with Databricks or similar distributed computing platforms.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI.
• Extensive knowledge of professional software engineering practices including SDLC, version control, CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• This position is remotely based in the U.S.
• The total compensation target pay range for this role is: $140,000 - $160,000.
