This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate and implement an API strategy that aligns with the organization’s business goals and reliability standards.
• Oversee the design, development, and rollout of scalable, secure, and observable APIs.
• Implement and manage API platforms and tools to ensure visibility, monitoring, and proactive alerts within the API ecosystem.
• Develop and enforce API governance policies addressing versioning, security, performance, and lifecycle management.
• Define standards for reliability and availability (SLIs, SLOs) and promote ongoing enhancements in uptime and latency.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to convert business requirements into reliable API solutions.
• Create and uphold high-quality API documentation and developer guides.
• Offer technical guidance, mentorship, and training to internal teams regarding API reliability, observability, and best practices.
• Utilize metrics, tracing, and logging data to analyze API behavior, identify issues, and enhance performance.
• Assess and recommend new tools and technologies to boost API reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
• Keep abreast of trends in API design, observability frameworks, and cloud-native architecture.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• At least 8 years of experience in API development and management.
• Demonstrated experience with API management platforms (e.g., Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, Mulesoft).
• Proficient in designing and implementing RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Expertise in programming languages and frameworks such as .Net, Java, Python, Node.js, or others.
• Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth, JWT, and other authentication mechanisms.
• Familiarity with cloud services and infrastructure (Azure preferred, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Understanding of DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, Docker, Azure Kubernetes Services).
• Experience in integrating and maintaining connections with third-party libraries, SDKs, Webhooks, and APIs.
• Proficient in SDLC methodologies with a focus on Agile and Scrum.
• Experience in writing and executing test suites with CI/CD, including test automation, unit test level TDD, and SAST/DAST.
• Experience in building financial solutions such as trading platforms, digital wallets, and payment solutions is advantageous.
• Background in working within a highly regulated industry, managing the secure transport and storage of sensitive data.
• Ability to adapt while working within the limitations of the existing technology stack, and leading continuous improvement efforts.
• Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities, both within teams and across departments.
