Machine Learning Engineer, New Grad

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance consumer-oriented AI functionalities driven by large language models (LLMs) and associated generative AI technologies.

• Collaborate with engineers throughout the AI engineering ecosystem, including areas such as prompt engineering, agent workflow optimization, evaluation, and more.

• Conduct structured experiments (e.g., A/B testing, offline evaluations) to assess their impact on engagement, quality, and trust metrics.

• Work closely with product management and engineering teams to convert user requirements into scalable AI-driven solutions.

• Improve model reliability through continuous monitoring, implementation of guardrails, quality assessments, and investigation of failure modes.

• Enhance the latency, cost efficiency, and scalability of AI systems in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be available for meetings and spontaneous communication during Quora's coordination hours (Monday to Friday: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).

• Expected to graduate in 2025 or 2026 with, or currently pursuing, a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• A robust understanding of the mathematical principles underlying Machine Learning algorithms.

• Experience with LLM applications or transformer models is preferred.

• Proficiency in Python or C++, or the ability to learn these languages swiftly.

• Excellent command of written English, with the capability to assess tone, accuracy, clarity, and nuance in written materials.
