This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• You will create AI systems designed to automate the management of disputes and chargebacks by utilizing structured evidence and business logic, enhancing the customer experience.
• You will develop models that streamline the refund process, ensuring our customers receive their money back more quickly.
• You will construct and oversee evidence extraction pipelines that convert unstructured data into structured, actionable outputs using LLM-powered workflows.
• You will experiment with new modeling concepts, conduct offline tests, and implement the most effective strategies into production while applying suitable risk management controls.
• You will work collaboratively with Engineering, Servicing Operations, Product, and ML Platform teams to establish requirements, assess trade-offs, and effectively communicate results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You have over 2 years of experience in the role of a machine learning engineer.
• Proficient in Python with a solid background in writing production-quality code.
• Experienced in building and assessing models for tabular classification tasks, preferably using gradient-boosted decision trees such as LightGBM/XGBoost/CatBoost.
• Familiar with developing applications using LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), which include structured extraction, prompt engineering, and orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph.
• Knowledgeable in processing documents and unstructured data (e.g., PDF/image extraction, text parsing, or similar techniques).
• Experienced with ML lifecycle tools for training orchestration, experimentation, and model monitoring (e.g., Kubeflow, Airflow, MLflow, or equivalent internal platforms).
• Skilled in utilizing AI-powered developer tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to enhance iteration, debugging, and code quality in daily development practices.
• You excel at transforming simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that integrate multiple software components, executing this by writing clear, comprehensible, well-tested, and extensible code.
• You are adept at navigating a large codebase, troubleshooting others' code, and providing constructive feedback to fellow engineers during code reviews.
• Your experience shows a commitment to personal growth, actively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• You possess strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• This position necessitates either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
