Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage scalable data pipelines and feature stores for both batch and real-time workloads.

• Develop reproducible machine learning training, evaluation, and inference workflows utilizing advanced orchestration and MLOps tools.

• Integrate event streams from Twilio products (such as Messaging, Voice, Segment) into cohesive, analytics-ready datasets.

• Monitor, test, and enhance data quality, model performance, latency, and cost efficiency.

• Collaborate with product, data science, and security teams to deliver robust, compliant services.

• Automate deployment processes using CI/CD practices, infrastructure-as-code, and container orchestration methodologies.

• Create comprehensive documentation, dashboards, and runbooks; disseminate knowledge through code reviews and informal training sessions.

• Uphold Twilio’s “We are Builders” ethos by taking initiative in problem-solving and driving projects to fruition.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline—or equivalent practical experience.

• 3–5 years of experience in building and operating data or machine learning systems in a production environment.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with software engineering principles (testing, version control, code reviews).

• Practical experience with ETL/ELT orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).

• Knowledge of machine learning lifecycle tools such as MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, or similar platforms.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, along with familiarity with at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Understanding of data modeling, distributed computing concepts, and streaming frameworks (Spark, Flink, or Kafka Streams).

• Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of ownership, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.
