This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Define and spearhead the architecture for scalable Machine Learning and AI platforms.
• Create end-to-end ML workflows utilizing Databricks, which includes: Feature engineering, Model training, Experimentation, Deployment, and Monitoring.
• Design scalable data pipelines for AI/ML workloads using technologies such as Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
• Establish best practices for MLOps, including: CI/CD for ML, Model versioning, Model governance, Automated retraining, Model drifting, Observability, and monitoring.
• Design secure and compliant AI architectures that adhere to governance and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to enhance data models and feature stores.
• Provide guidance to Data Scientists and ML Engineers on scalable production design patterns.
• Assess and integrate modern AI capabilities, including (a plus): LLMs, Vector databases, Retrieval augmented generation (RAG), AI agents.
• Promote cost optimization, scalability, and operational excellence across ML platforms.
• Define reference architectures and best practices across various ML teams (not limited to a single project).
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Minimum of 8 years in Data, AI, or Machine Learning Engineering roles.
• At least 3 years of experience designing ML platforms or AI architecture at scale.
• Strong practical experience with:
• - Databricks
• - Apache Spark
• - Python
• - SQL
• Solid understanding of:
• - MLOps
• - ML lifecycle management
• - Distributed ML systems
• - Feature engineering
• - Model deployment patterns
• Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proven experience in deploying ML models into production environments.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture and scalable ETL/ELT patterns.
• Experience working with orchestration frameworks like Apache Airflow.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.
