This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the overall pipeline and metrics for the team, ensuring that workloads are adjusted as necessary.
• Deliver training, guidance, and coaching to Processors to resolve and clarify issues related to procedures, requirements, products, systems, and necessary documentation.
• Organize and manage daily workflow requirements while facilitating communication between the Funding and Underwriting departments.
• Review files to confirm the completeness of applications and all necessary supporting documentation.
• Initiate requests for documentation such as appraisals, employment verifications, preliminary title reports, etc.
• Assess ratios and determine program applicability.
• Ensure that the status, issues, or additional requirements for loan processing are communicated; request and provide updates on loans to Processors, borrowers, agents, and Loan Officers to gather information needed to finalize incomplete loan packages.
• Ensure that Processors meet productivity targets and customer service standards.
• Conduct both initial and ongoing training for Processors and relay updates on industry and company changes.
• Adhere to all relevant compliance regulations.
• Escalate issues as necessary and follow up to guarantee prompt resolution.
• Participate in and provide recommendations concerning staff changes, interviews, new hire selections, internal promotions, performance evaluations, recognition, employee relations issues, and disciplinary actions.
• Examine loan applications and documentation to ensure precision, completeness, and compliance with Company standards, federal and agency regulations, as well as any applicable state or local regulations and ordinances.
• Keep informed about federal and state regulations, policies, and industry trends.
• Verify the accuracy of system inputs.
• Process overflow loans.
• Carry out other assigned duties.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; college coursework or technical training in Business, Finance/Accounting, Legal, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of five years of total work experience is required, including progressively responsible roles in loan processing (Conventional, FHA, Bond, USDA loans, as well as FHA and VA new-construction documentation and approvals for condominium projects).
• Two or more years of prior supervisory experience are necessary.
• Ability to cultivate strong relationships with loan officers, production, underwriting, closing, and other internal and external partners.
• Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Expert-level knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory requirements/guidelines pertinent to consumer mortgage lending and internal processes and controls.
• Expert-level understanding of valid documentation related to processing consumer mortgage applications (e.g., tax returns, financial statements and records, verification of income and deposits, etc.).
• Sound judgment and critical thinking ability, including evaluating facts and data to draw conclusions and assess the downstream impacts of decisions and associated risks.
• Capability to prioritize multiple tasks for oneself and others in a deadline-driven environment, displaying a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
• Ability to be patient and train less experienced team members, responding to inquiries and building their capabilities.
• Intermediate math skills are required.
• Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
• Prior experience with internal data entry systems, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF/Document Retention programs.
