Liability Claims Examiner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Initiate the investigation process for new claims.

• Make determinations regarding liability and coverage.

• Assess and negotiate settlements for collision, specified perils, property damage, and liability losses as appropriate.

• Oversee and manage the activities of external adjusters, appraisers, and experts.

• Establish communication with the insured and claimant in accordance with established protocols.

• Identify coverage issues and alert the supervisor accordingly.

• Develop a fundamental understanding of liability and coverage principles.

• Recognize state-specific laws and claims regulations across the United States to ensure compliance in claims investigations, including obtaining and securing necessary documentation.

• Conduct research to ascertain market value for automobiles and heavy equipment to provide recommendations on total loss settlement values using appropriate state valuation methods.

• Summarize cases and provide recommendations for claims exceeding individual settlement authority.

• Address time-sensitive materials, including but not limited to intercompany arbitration hearings and department of insurance complaints.

• Maintain a diary system to systematically review and resolve claims, adhering to specified state compliance guidelines.

• Keep state licenses current by completing continuing education courses and/or working towards a claims designation.

• Manage small claim lawsuits as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Experience with Lloyd’s of London is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary.

• Familiarity with Xactimate is essential.

• Must be able to obtain licensing in required states or countries.

• AIC designation is preferred.
