This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Conduct online legal research and provide input by identifying pertinent news, commentaries, reports, and court documents related to lawsuits globally against companies for alleged human rights and environmental violations, as well as legislative changes; create abstracts and titles; maintain and update website information, including fixing broken links.
• Monitor and write Daily Updates regarding the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on a Legally Binding Instrument (LBI) on business and human rights, while also assisting in the coordination and execution of LBI-related tasks.
• Draft and revise lawsuit profiles: investigate and summarize legal information regarding lawsuits filed against companies to address human rights violations and present findings in a clear, concise manner.
• Contribute to the Programme’s outputs: prepare the CLA Quarterly Update newsletter and assist in its distribution; curate significant news items for the Centre’s Weekly Update.
• Engage in (virtual) meetings, including bi-weekly Global Team meetings with all staff and Regional Researchers.
• You may also be requested to support the Centre with general, non-legal tasks, such as aiding our company response mechanism and liaising with relevant organizations.
• Currently pursuing a degree at university, either in law (LLB/LLM/JD or similar) or possessing a legal background.
• Strong legal analysis and research capabilities.
• Academic and/or professional experience in conducting legal research.
• Proficient general research and analytical skills.
• Ability to perform general research, including online inquiries, and summarize information effectively and succinctly.
• Proven academic or professional experience in research and information analysis.
• Strong commitment to human rights.
• Genuine interest in and dedication to the promotion of human rights.
• Willingness and ability to handle a significant volume of routine data entry on a daily basis.
• Excellent proficiency in the English language (reading/writing/speaking).
• Fluency in French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian is highly desirable (but not mandatory).
• Reimbursement of lunch expenses up to GBP 7/USD 9/EUR 9 for interns who do not receive funding for their internship from their university or another institution.
