This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and deliver legal support related to real estate for clean energy and data center development initiatives within Intersect’s portfolio.
• Direct real estate legal assistance through all phases of project development, encompassing site control, project acquisitions, late-stage development efforts, and associated real estate issues.
• Facilitate M&A and project acquisition deals involving development-stage initiatives and relevant real estate assets.
• Aid in the real estate aspects of larger commercial, development, and operational agreements as required.
• Spearhead the negotiation, assessment, and management of lease options, purchase options, easements, crossing agreements, and various real estate contracts.
• Analyze transaction frameworks and offer practical legal advice that aligns with business goals while effectively managing risk.
• Collaborate closely with Land, Development, Construction, Operations, and Environmental/Permitting teams to ensure successful project implementation.
• Act as a reliable legal advisor to internal stakeholders on real estate issues impacting development efforts.
• Work across functions to identify solutions, eliminate barriers, and facilitate the efficient progress of projects.
• Coordinate with and supervise external real estate counsel in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing transactions.
• Manage real estate diligence processes and support transaction execution across multiple simultaneous projects.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, workflows, and best practices within the Real Estate Legal team.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and a valid license to practice law.
• Over 5 years of experience as a real estate transactional attorney in a law firm and/or in-house legal setting.
• Extensive experience with real estate agreements commonly utilized in clean energy, infrastructure, data center, or similar sectors.
• Proven experience supporting intricate development projects, acquisitions, or project portfolios involving multiple stakeholders.
• Capability to independently handle a significant volume of transactions while ensuring meticulous attention to detail and sound judgment.
• Established track record of collaborating with commercial teams and external counsel to negotiate and finalize real estate transactions.
• Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Skill in balancing legal risks with practical business considerations, providing commercially oriented legal counsel.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to resolving complex challenges across functions.
