Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Engage in the preparation, negotiation, and oversight of various commercial agreements.

• Offer product and sales support as Nuvei advances its payment solutions for merchants globally.

• Assist in managing and monitoring specific litigation across Canada and the United States, coordinating with external legal counsel.

• Collaborate daily with different business sectors within the company, including Operations, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, to address their legal requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec or another province, or licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience in commercial and transactional law.

• Proficient in drafting and reviewing information technology contracts, along with a solid understanding of relevant laws and regulations in the payment services sector.

• Strong negotiation and drafting abilities.

• Familiarity and experience with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), and legal issues related to personal data protection are advantageous.

• Basic knowledge of cryptocurrencies and alternative payment methods is a bonus.

• Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven track record in relationship building and collaboration. Must excel in both team and independent work environments.

• Experience with ACH payments and NACHA rules is a plus.

• Excellent ability to foster interpersonal relationships.
