Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Create and negotiate contracts from the ground up, engaging with multiple European jurisdictions.

• Assist in the incorporation and establishment of payment entities (EMI / Payment Institution licensing) across various regions, including Canada and Europe.

• Offer legal guidance for the configuration and launch of payment products.

• Provide advice on regulations related to money transfers and remittances, in addition to broader regulations governing payment infrastructure.

• Collaborate with external legal consultants as necessary.

• Work collaboratively with product, compliance, and business teams to adapt legal frameworks to meet changing business requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in payment institutions.

• A strong foundation in European payment law is essential.

• Experience across jurisdictions in incorporating payment companies and launching payment products (Canada, Europe, etc.).

• A thorough understanding of EMI / Payment Institution regulations in Europe, ideally encompassing both money transfer regulations and broader financial infrastructure regulations.

• Practical experience in drafting contracts from the outset.

• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Proficiency in English.

• Hands-on experience with AI tools in daily operations (beyond basic ChatGPT usage).
