This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Take charge of and consistently enhance Kayzen’s GDPR compliance program as an AdTech firm operating in various jurisdictions, with a special emphasis on EU and US privacy regulations.
• Provide guidance on data processing agreements, privacy notices, consent frameworks, and cross-border data transfers.
• Serve as the main contact for internal privacy inquiries.
• Offer legal advice on terms and conditions as well as associated transactions.
• Lead or assist in contract negotiations with clients and vendors, including master service agreements (MSAs), software as a service (SaaS) agreements, partnership agreements, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
• Ensure that commercial contracts are legally sound and in line with the company's risk appetite.
• Manage and oversee Kayzen’s capitalization table.
• Supervise corporate governance within Kayzen’s group structure, which includes managing subsidiaries, shareholder resolutions, and notarial filings under German law.
• Assist with fundraising and investor relations from both a legal and corporate standpoint.
• Continue to evolve and expand Kayzen’s compliance framework to align with our growth as an internationally operating entity.
• Keep track of relevant regulatory changes (ad-tech, data privacy, employment, corporate) and convert them into actionable advice for the business.
• A qualified lawyer (“Volljurist”) or business lawyer (“Wirtschaftsjurist”) with 2–6 years of pertinent professional experience.
• A strong grasp of German business law is crucial; additionally, a solid understanding of international and US legal frameworks, especially concerning data privacy and commercial contracts.
• In-depth knowledge of GDPR and European data protection laws; familiarity with US privacy regulations (CCPA, etc.) is a significant advantage.
• Experience in a startup or scale-up setting is highly preferred — you know how to operate efficiently, act swiftly, and prioritize effectively.
• Practical experience in contract drafting and commercial negotiations across different agreement types.
• Familiarity with cap table management and corporate governance in a venture capital-backed or founder-led company context.
• Commercially oriented: you understand that effective legal advice facilitates business rather than merely protects it.
• Proficiency in English and German.
• Proven ability to utilize AI tools to boost legal productivity — you work quickly and intelligently.
