This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Oversee document management, deadlines, and communications with clients, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and organization.
• Review and proofread legal documents to verify compliance and precision.
• Independently draft legal documents such as petitions, stipulations, notices, and fundamental motion papers.
• Assist in the drafting and preparation of legal documents, including petitions, motions, affidavits, and agreements.
• Effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment to guarantee timely progression of cases.
• Take initiative to efficiently advance cases, showcasing a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
• Execute administrative duties such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
• Support case management by monitoring deadlines, court dates, and required documentation.
• Organize and maintain electronic case files in accordance with firm standards.
• Collaborate with the legal team to ensure a streamlined workflow and advancement of cases.
• Stay informed and compliant with court procedures and filings, including NYSCEF and Family Court protocols.
• Exhibit strong knowledge and experience in New York family law, encompassing divorce, custody, child support, and related issues.
• Assist the Paralegal in preparing for hearings and trials by collecting pertinent information.
• Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and family law issues as required.
• Help schedule client meetings, court appearances, and appointments.
• Address client inquiries and provide necessary forms and guidance.
• Communicate with clients via phone, email, or client portals professionally, especially in high-pressure situations.
• Prepare case summaries and keep client records current.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST
• Time Zone: EST
• Experience: 1–2 years in a legal assistant or administrative capacity
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
• Industry Experience: Prior experience in family law is highly desirable
• Language: Advanced proficiency in English is required
• Software: Proficiency with Clio and Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory
