Legacy Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver daily operational assistance for legacy mainframe applications and their corresponding databases.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify issues across legacy platforms while minimizing system downtime.

• Evaluate system performance, pinpoint tuning opportunities, and carry out optimization tasks.

• Facilitate batch processing operations, job scheduling, and production workflows.

• Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to deploy enhancements, patches, and updates.

• Engage in incident management, root-cause analysis, and planning for long-term remediation.

• Provide support during maintenance windows, release cycles, and environment migrations as required.

• Document processes, technical modifications, and system configurations to ensure continuity of knowledge.

• Assist public-sector clients by ensuring the stability, performance, and modernization of enterprise legacy databases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience supporting legacy/mainframe systems in production settings.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication abilities.

• Capability to work remotely with distributed teams and manage tasks autonomously.

• Strong foundation in mainframe environments, including support, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

• Experience as a Mainframe Database Administrator with IDMS, covering maintenance, upgrades/patching, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and incident resolution.

• Proficient knowledge of Db2 z/OS, SQL, and database administration principles within mainframe environments.

• Background in supporting traditional batch systems, JCL, and production operations.

• Willingness to provide occasional off-hours support for production emergencies or scheduled maintenance.

• Applicants must reside in the United States.

• Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
