Lead Technical Application Engineer – Nuclear Steam Turbine Controls Upgrades

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the response to customer technical specifications regarding upgrades to conventional nuclear and non-safety related steam turbine controls.

• Collaborate with Controls Engineering Technical Leaders and Product Design Owners to create clear, compliant, and competitive technical responses to customer inquiries.

• Define engineering efforts and material requirements to meet customer expectations and adhere to nuclear industry quality standards, in alignment with our engineering, manufacturing, and product capabilities.

• Take ownership of the Technical Application Guide definition for nuclear steam turbine controls applications; develop and maintain Technical Application Guides (TAGs) that outline standards for engineering design efforts, material/hardware definitions, technical proposal language for standard products, and overall technical quoting limits.

• Assist in the commercialization of new product designs for nuclear steam turbine controls applications by creating or updating TAGs to facilitate quotations for new products/applications.

• Engage in technical discussions with customers for strategic deal development; provide technical insights on GEV products and services for nuclear steam turbine controls, gather customer feedback, respond to technical inquiries regarding GEV submitted proposals, and relay insights to the business's commercial and product management teams regarding control solutions that fulfill customer needs in the nuclear market.

• Promote the continuous enhancement of Technical Application Guides by participating in project reviews with commercial, project management, engineering, and field service teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.

• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience with steam turbine control system applications or controls project execution.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the nuclear sector.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

• Knowledge of pertinent nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Familiarity with the GE Vernova Mark VIe Control System.

• Experience in technical application and proposal engineering.

• Strong grasp of control system architecture, instrumentation, HMI systems, cybersecurity, and integration principles.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop practical engineering responses, balancing standard solutions with project-specific requirements.

• High attention to detail in the development of technical proposals.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong collaboration skills with internal technical and commercial teams.

• Proven ability to meet established goals and metrics.

• Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a matrix management environment.

• Experience interacting with various levels of internal and external customers.

• Strong influencing, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong process discipline coupled with sound analytical skills.

• Strong technical judgment and problem-solving abilities.

• Comfort in working across multiple engineering disciplines and engaging with various stakeholders.
