• This role provides the opportunity to effectively utilize your expertise in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• As part of an engineering and design team, you will engage in a diverse array of power transmission modifications and enhancements to support client recommendations and reviews, which includes generating calculations, design documents, and specifications.
• You will tackle complex assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving various structural engineering challenges.
• Your responsibilities will include conducting structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete components, equipment, and foundations.
• You will create integrated structural designs and carry out supporting calculations for upcoming projects.
• Direct interaction with clients will be expected, along with the communication of technical information.
• You will draft technical specifications for structural materials.
• Independent reviews of work completed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation, will be part of your duties.
• Coordination and guidance will be provided to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure comprehensive and timely design.
• You will evaluate existing facilities to recommend upgrades and replacements, presenting your findings and suggestions to clients and colleagues.
• Your career development will be supported through peer-learning by sharing knowledge with other seasoned engineers.
• A BSCE or MSCE from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-accredited program is required, emphasizing a solid academic foundation in materials behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience as a practicing structural engineer, ideally as part of a project team focused on the design and enhancement of electrical substations, is necessary.
• You must possess the ability to effectively communicate with clients, providing the appropriate level of technical detail.
• Occasional site visits and participation in client scoping meetings are required.
• Experience in drafting and supplying supporting documentation for structural engineering calculations is essential.
• The ability to complete assignments within budget and on schedule while maintaining a high degree of accuracy is crucial.
• A strong technical understanding of the practical application of structural engineering, including analysis for structural supports, loads, and design integrity, is expected.
• Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models is important.
• Proficiency in any of the following software programs: MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA 3D, and RISA Floor.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 is required.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
