
Lead Staff Counsel – Procedural Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Conducts audits of Staff Counsel files to evaluate and ensure the quality of case management, compliance with Staff Counsel policies, and procedures.
• PROVIDES feedback post-audit to management regarding cases that may require immediate attention, as well as any breaches of Staff Counsel policies and procedures identified during the audit.
• SERVES as an impartial source of independent recommendations to senior management and effectively COMMUNICATES findings and recommendations, including identifying loopholes, policy gaps, and irregularities associated with reporting requirements.
• PREPARES and DELIVERS reports on audit trends to senior management members and Staff Counsel Managers, and MAKES suggestions to enhance the effectiveness of the audit process.
• ASSISTS in the development of best practices and ADVOCATES for improvements to current policies and procedures.
• COMPLIES with the GEICO Code of Conduct, along with company policies and operating principles.
• Must hold a valid license in good standing to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.
• Must possess a minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
• Must be willing to travel to staff counsel offices nationwide and be available for travel at least 25% of the time.
• Must be capable, with or without accommodation, of performing essential functions which include, but are not limited to, thinking (concentrating, focusing, assimilating information), reading, writing, listening, typing, speaking, bending, reaching, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Must be proficient in using a keyboard and a mouse.
• Must be able to communicate professionally in person, over the phone, and in written correspondence/email.
• Must be adept at documenting files clearly, concisely, and professionally to ensure understanding by customers, clients, co-workers, and other employees within the organization.
• Must be capable of following complex instructions, resolving conflicts or facilitating conflict resolution, and demonstrating strong organizational, priority-setting, and multi-tasking skills.
• Must exhibit successful performance by taking primary responsibility for cases of considerable severity and complexity.
