This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Define and enhance the architecture of scalable, distributed systems deployed on AWS.
• Design and manage microservices and data-intensive workloads operating in Kubernetes (EKS).
• Lead the technical design for systems that process and analyze large-scale datasets (high-volume, high-velocity, and high-variety data).
• Establish patterns and best practices for creating resilient, observable, and high-performance services.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering leaders to convert business strategies into comprehensive technical roadmaps.
• Drive cross-team technical projects and shape architectural decisions beyond your immediate team.
• Optimize strategies for data storage, retrieval, and processing across both relational and NoSQL systems.
• Mentor engineers, elevate the standards for design and code quality, and lead by technical example.
• Assume full ownership of critical platform components, ensuring their long-term scalability and maintainability.
• 8+ years of experience in building and scaling production-grade distributed systems.
• Strong foundation in computer science, distributed systems, and large-scale system design.
• Proven track record in architecting systems that handle large datasets (event streams, batch + real-time pipelines, high-throughput services).
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS, including EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• In-depth expertise in Kubernetes (EKS) and containerized microservices architectures.
• Experience with streaming and data infrastructure technologies like Kafka, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL databases (e.g., Aerospike).
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, Ruby, or other similar object-oriented languages.
• Experience in designing APIs and service communication layers (REST, gRPC, Thrift).
• Demonstrated capability to lead technical design reviews and influence engineering direction.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience utilizing AI-powered development tools to enhance engineering productivity.
