Lead Software Engineer – Maritime

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take the lead in developing and managing the maritime software engineering team.

• Oversee the complete software design, development, and integration processes for maritime systems within the Minerva framework.

• Create and implement essential C++ architecture for autonomy, control, and communication subsystems.

• Set technical foundations, define interfaces, and uphold modern C++ standards through thorough code reviews and adherence to best practices.

• Work in close collaboration with hardware and systems engineers to guarantee that software functions seamlessly on physical autonomous platforms.

• Establish and oversee robust software delivery pipelines for maritime applications, covering everything from edge devices to front-line interfaces.

• Set quality standards to ensure that all maritime systems are cohesive, resilient, and prepared for deployment in the most challenging sea conditions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient C++ Developer: Extensive hands-on experience in modern C++ with a "lead by example" coding philosophy.

• Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams or a strong aspiration to transition into a formal leadership role while remaining actively involved.

• System Architect: Comprehensive understanding of software architecture, integration, and high-level system design.

• Domain Expertise: Experience in real-time, embedded, or safety-critical systems (e.g., Automotive, Aerospace, or Defence).

• Autonomous Systems: Knowledge of autonomous control systems, including autopilots, guidance algorithms, or vehicle dynamics.

• Hardware Interface: Hands-on experience with physical hardware, sensors, and intricate data communication systems.

• Security: Must possess security clearance or be eligible to obtain UK/EU defence-level clearance.
