
Lead SOC/NOC Engineer – Shift Work

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Act as the primary point of escalation for intricate security and infrastructure challenges within Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Offer technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to SOC and NOC engineers.
• Take ownership of the design, configuration, and upkeep of SIEM, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Develop and enhance security and infrastructure dashboards, alerts, and monitoring solutions.
• Spearhead incident response for critical security incidents and significant infrastructure failures.
• Create and sustain runbooks, playbooks, procedures, and reporting templates.
• Promote automation and innovation to enhance operational efficiency.
• Oversee audit, compliance, accreditation, and authority-to-operate (ATO) support initiatives.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, vendors, and third parties to strengthen security posture and operational maturity.
• Establish and enforce processes for patching, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and change management.
• Generate written documentation for operational procedures.
• Manage shift coverage planning and participate in an on-call rotation to support continuous 24x7 operational SLAs.
• Over 7 years of experience in security operations, network and infrastructure operations, and/or systems engineering.
• Proficient in operating Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.
• Experience in leading or mentoring engineers within a SOC, NOC, or integrated operations center.
• Practical experience with SIEM configuration and maintenance, as well as SOC/NOC engineering and administrative tools.
• Skilled in managing Azure subscriptions and resources across compute, storage, networking, and identity.
• Capable of leading incident response and addressing malware, phishing, and active vulnerability threats.
• Excellent engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and communication skills, including client-facing consulting ability.
• Prepared to serve as senior escalation, participate in on-call rotations, and perform off-hours maintenance.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass client background checks are mandatory.
• Availability to work off-hours shifts covering 24x7x365 SLAs, including 4p–12a Monday–Friday and/or 12-hour weekend and holiday shifts, plus two day shifts weekly.
• Willingness to be on call and adjust shifts for team member absences.
• Preferred certifications include SC-200, AZ-500, AZ-104, or CySA+.
• Preferred advanced forensics skills.
• Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender.
• Preferred knowledge of Azure Monitor, Azure Automation, Azure Backup, Azure Security Center, and Azure Update Manager.
• Preferred experience with ARM, Terraform, PowerShell, and KQL.
• Preferred background in security audits, accreditation, and ATO processes.
• Preferred experience in MSP or 24/7 enterprise operations.
