This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Take ownership of quality outcomes for the CRM, C&I, and Web teams.
• Manage a small team of QA analysts and QE engineers on a daily basis.
• Act as the primary point of contact for quality during sprint cycles, releases, and design discussions.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones and THRIVE conversations.
• Oversee career development, growth plans, coaching, and daily performance management.
• Actively participate in the interviewing process as the team expands.
• Attend sprint planning sessions and story refinement meetings.
• Write or review acceptance criteria and identify risks prior to UAT.
• Establish visible quality metrics such as escaped-defect trends, coverage, and recurring production issues.
• Assign and coordinate sprint testing along with functional test coverage.
• Manage and execute the release-night quality gate rotation, including go/no-go decisions and escalations.
• Maintain and enhance Playwright-based E2E, API/service-layer tests, and Zephyr Scale processes.
• Oversee in-flight tooling handoffs, including release-notes automation and team-level test analysis tools.
• Develop strong working relationships with GPMs/PMs and engineering managers.
• Advocate for quality at the team level and during the Quality Leads Sync.
• Communicate quality risks, throughput, and team health to the Engineering Manager of Quality.
• Drive unresolved issues to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring a QA/QE team.
• Ideal candidates will have experience in a matrixed organization.
• Hands-on experience with test design, automation, and troubleshooting unreliable pipelines.
• Experience in people leadership, including coaching, growth discussions, and performance management.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders and the ability to translate technical and quality risks.
• Prioritization skills based on risk and blast radius.
• Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with complex, regulated business sectors.
• Experience in the energy/utility sector is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, API/service-layer testing, and shift-left methodologies.
• Experience that goes beyond manual regression testing.
