📋 Description

• Take ownership of the long-term vision and roadmap for Panorama's platform capabilities, which include shared services, foundational infrastructure, developer tooling, and operational standards. Facilitate alignment among engineering and product leadership regarding platform priorities, sequencing, and investment levels. Transform business strategy into architectural decisions for the platform that endure over years, rather than just quarters.

• Act as the link between platform and product teams, ensuring that shared infrastructure accelerates rather than limits progress. Outline how platform capabilities should be constructed, documented, and embraced throughout the organization. Set the standards and patterns that other teams will build upon, enhancing quality, consistency, and speed across all areas.

• Spearhead platform strategy discussions alongside engineering leadership, SRE, data, security, and legal teams. Foster alignment on complex, multi-team initiatives where priorities and tradeoffs span across organizational lines. Represent the platform viewpoint in executive discussions and company-wide planning.

• Define the meaning of "platform health" at Panorama and lead the initiatives to achieve it, addressing performance, resilience, cost efficiency, and operational maturity. Balance immediate delivery with long-term investments to mitigate escalating technical risks. Establish a framework for managing reactive and unplanned work, ensuring that the team can address operational demands without losing focus on strategic priorities.

• Specify what "done" entails for platform initiatives and uphold that standard rigorously. Navigate competing pressures between improvements identified by engineers, priorities driven by business needs, and reactive demands. Prevent projects from extending indefinitely by setting clear completion criteria and making tradeoffs explicit. Cultivate a shared discipline around scope so the team can operate with focus rather than amassing open-ended tasks.

• Collaborate with security and legal leadership to influence how platform capabilities meet Panorama's security, privacy, and compliance obligations at a strategic level. Ensure that risk reduction is integrated into platform considerations from the outset, rather than added as an afterthought.

• Manage the communication of platform strategy to senior leadership and the wider organization. Deliver clear, compelling narratives regarding platform investments, progress, and tradeoffs that link technical decisions to business outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of product management experience, with substantial expertise in platform, infrastructure, or developer experience within a technology-oriented organization. Previous software engineering experience is highly preferred.

• Technical Credibility: Ability to engage as an equal with staff engineers on architectural tradeoffs, infrastructure choices, and long-term system design. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including services like EKS, RDS, S3, and IAM is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and Kubernetes for container orchestration is a significant advantage.

• Proven track record of driving alignment across engineering, security, and operations at a senior level, influencing direction without formal authority and fostering shared ownership of platform results.

• Exceptional Communication Skills: Capable of translating intricate platform strategies into clear narratives for senior leadership, linking technical investments to business impacts and company priorities. Equally adept at converting engineer-identified pain points, technical insights, and system health indicators into prioritized business cases.

• Scope and Delivery Discipline: Demonstrated success in defining project completion criteria, resisting scope creep in technically-driven environments, and concluding work decisively. Experience managing backlogs where engineers actively contribute to scope, and knowing how to channel that enthusiasm without allowing it to expand indefinitely.

• Experience leading product work that intersects with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, GDPR, and FERPA, with a strong command of data protection and privacy best practices.

• Developer Experience Focus: A history of enhancing developer productivity through investments in CI/CD pipelines, internal tooling, self-service infrastructure, and deployment reliability. Capable of measuring and communicating the business value of improvements in developer experience in terms of shipping speed, incident reduction, and engineer retention.

• Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to synthesize data, system health indicators, and business context into platform priorities that address both immediate needs and long-term goals. Experience with monitoring and observability at scale is a plus.

• Collaborative Leadership: Proven ability to lead through influence at a senior level, creating alignment and shared success across technical and business organizations.

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus, although equivalent practical experience in platform or infrastructure product management is equally valued.

🏝️ Benefits

• Competitive salary and benefits package (including equity, health, dental & vision, retirement contributions, parental leave, and mental health & wellness support).

• Remote-first culture: Panoramians can work from anywhere within the continental U.S.

• Mission-driven colleagues who are deeply committed to making education more equitable and sustainable.
