Lead Primary Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• The High Voltage Substation Lead Primary Design Engineer is accountable for the comprehensive design of substations, which includes General Layout, Sections, HV cable routing, and Civil Work.

• Provide guidance on drawings, earthing calculations, and other related tasks to maximize operational efficiency and accessibility for maintenance.

• Create equipment bills of quantities (BOQ) and assist in the development of technical specifications and data sheets for the selection of HV substation components.

• Ensure compliance with the latest regulations and standards.

• Work closely with Protection, Control & Automation (PCA) Engineers to facilitate the integration of primary and secondary systems.

• Collaborate with Civil/Structural Engineers on foundation designs, cable trenches, equipment plinths, and building specifications.

• Coordinate with MEP Engineers regarding auxiliary systems, including HVAC, lighting, fire suppression, and drainage.

• Serve as the main technical contact for internal teams, clients, and third-party stakeholders concerning primary design issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of engineering experience in a relevant discipline within project and EPC environments, specifically in HV substations and the energy sector.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% within the MEA & Europe, as well as to other countries/regions for short to medium durations based on project needs.

• Proficient in both spoken and written English.

• Familiarity with project organization and engineering processes pertaining to the specified scope of work.

• Proficient in AutoCAD software.

• Experience in formalized discipline design reviews and gate reviews to ensure alignment with the overall substation design.

• Proven capability in technical problem-solving.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
