Lead Full-Stack Platform Engineer – KFI Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Establish and steer the technical vision for the team, collaborating with peer staff and principal engineers to influence direction across related teams (data platform, reporting, internal and external frontends & apps).

• Engage with product and business stakeholders (KBRA Analytics, Bank Product) to convert strategy into a multi-quarter technical roadmap, make decisions on build/buy/sunset options, and take ownership of the architectural choices that arise from them.

• Oversee the architecture of a Snowflake lakehouse that ingests over 30 regulatory and market data sources (FFIEC, FDIC, NCUA, FactSet, Xignite, SEC EDGAR, FRED, etc.) using S3 external tables, Dask-based transformations, and SQS / Mongo change-stream event pipelines.

• Create and refine reusable Terraform modules across AWS, Azure, Snowflake, MongoDB Atlas, GitLab, Datadog, and other platforms.

• Promote CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and acceptance-test (BDD/behave) standards within the team.

• Guide engineers and serve as the code owner for IaC, data-lake, and application repositories.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python (e.g., Flask, Dash, Dask, Pandas).

• Extensive experience with AWS (e.g., S3, IAM, SQS, Lambda, IRSA).

• Proficient in Terraform at the module-author level.

• Advanced skills in SQL and Snowflake (e.g., external tables, materialized views, performance tuning).

• Experience in designing high-throughput ETL processes across various formats (e.g., Parquet, JSON, CSV, XML, zipped archives).

• Capability to support legacy systems and respond to incidents.
