Lead Engineer, Services Development Lab

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and support initiatives focused on detection, repair, and retrofit technologies for onshore wind turbines.

• Collaborate across the Fleet Performance Management (FPM) team and the broader engineering organization to effectively prototype concepts, analyze, and test solutions for high-priority challenges in GEV test labs and operational wind turbines.

• Develop and assist in creating detection, repair, and retrofit solutions addressing urgent issues and opportunities within the GEV wind turbine fleet.

• Partner with FPM and the larger wind engineering team to monitor emerging challenges and new technologies that present significant opportunities for prototyping and trials.

• Organize and quantitatively prioritize the most pressing issues.

• Evaluate operational turbine data alongside lab test data to establish clear, data-driven next steps.

• Travel to GEV test labs and installed wind turbines to trial and refine solutions.

• Generate documentation for engineering or leadership presentations, as well as field procedures, ensuring a balance between highly technical information and practical, safe execution.

• Guide newer engineers in specific areas of expertise and support the development of technical skill sets through close collaboration with senior engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the wind or a similar industry).

• At least 4 years of experience in the wind industry or another comparable field.

• Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.

• Must be physically capable and willing to climb and perform work inside an installed GEV onshore wind turbine.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to document, plan, and implement programs effectively.

• Proficient in data analytics and presentation skills.

• Strong foundation in mechanical equipment (experience in electrical/controls is an advantage).

• Experience in fleet management, including issue resolution, root cause analysis, and projects that leverage available data for decision-making.
